Short version: Tye stores everything locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to any of your personal data or the information you store about other people. Your vault is truly yours.

Tye is a local-first application. All data you create inside Tye — including people you add, memories you log, vault entries, milestones, and photos — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's AsyncStorage mechanism.
We have no access to this data. It does not leave your device unless you explicitly back it up through iOS iCloud backup (which is managed entirely by Apple, not by us).
Tye uses PostHog for anonymised product analytics. This helps us understand how features are used in aggregate — such as which screens are most visited — so we can improve the app.
Analytics are opt-in only. You will be asked for consent during onboarding and can change your preference at any time in Settings. If you opt out, no analytics data is collected or transmitted.

No personally identifiable information (PII) — including names, emails, or any data you enter into the app — is ever included in analytics events. PostHog's privacy policy is available at posthog.com/privacy.
Tye offers a one-time lifetime purchase processed through Apple's App Store. We do not handle payment details directly — all billing is managed by Apple.
Purchase status is cached locally on your device via RevenueCat, a third-party service used to verify and restore purchases. RevenueCat may process a pseudonymous user identifier for this purpose. Their privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Tye can send local push notifications to remind you of milestones and relationship check-ins. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device — they do not involve any remote server or network request.
You can enable or disable notifications at any time in the app's Settings or in your iOS device settings. You can also enable "private mode," which hides the names of people from notification previews on your lock screen.

Tye is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store as it contains no objectionable content, but it is intended for adult use.
Because all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data is protected by your device's own security mechanisms — passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and iOS encryption. We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date.
We have deliberately chosen not to implement server-side storage in order to minimise the attack surface for your personal data.
Because we do not collect or store your personal data, most data subject rights (access, rectification, deletion) are exercised directly on your device:
